Dorado / Gretch Resonator Guitar, Left-Handed Modification, Needs Adjustment, Addendum Included

138.60 $
Description
This is a Dorado by Gretsch resonator guitar that has been modified for left-handed playing. It can be relatively easily converted back to right-handed by replacing the nut (which is glued in) with a right-handed one and rotating the cone 180 degrees, which will also allow the saddle to be returned to its original position.
Dorado guitars are often thought to be from an unknown manufacturer and are usually available at a very reasonable market price. However, they were produced and sold by Gretsch around 1970, commissioned to Matsumoku, so they are actually well-made and solid.
I believe it is a good guitar with a beautiful finish.

The neck is also thin and the string height is set low, making it light and easy to play. If you use heavy bars made of thick brass or other materials for slide playing, you may need to insert shims under the nut as appropriate.
When I purchased it, I cleaned the interior, and it was in very clean condition with no wood damage or peeling. It had a slight smell like an old folk house, though... lol.

However, as it is an old instrument and has been modified, it is intended for those who enjoy tinkering with guitars. Please only purchase if you are able to handle any issues yourself.

Below are the modifications and current condition.

① The tuning machines have been replaced with button-type Kluson machines since I acquired it. There are signs of the original holes being filled to accommodate this. The alignment is not perfectly straight, but the function is completely fine.

② The nut has been replaced with a left-handed one.
The reason I have indicated needs adjustment is that either the height of the replaced nut is not correct, or the groove is faulty, resulting in a slight out-of-tune sound when playing open chords mixed with fretted notes. I found it bothersome to adjust, so I played it with a capo at the 2nd fret.
There are no issues whatsoever when using a capo.
The neck is generally straight, so I believe the problem lies with the nut. I would like to ask those who can understand the situation from the description to consider purchasing.

③ A 2mm position marker has been added on the left-handed side.

④ A strap pin for left-handed use has been installed on the neck heel.

⑤ A Gretsch water-slide decal has been playfully applied to the headstock logo and lightly clear-coated. It's not an attempt to make it a completely different brand like Fender, so it's for those with a playful spirit.

⑥ The resonator cover has been dulled with Scotch-Brite. Upon close inspection, there are fine scratches that look like they were made with sandpaper.
As described above, custom work has been done by an amateur. There are scratches, dirt, and small dents, so please do not purchase if you are concerned about these.

Addendum
