Vintage United Steel & Wire Co. hand shopping basket from Battle Creek, Michigan, measuring approximately 20” long x 14” wide x 8” high at the basket, not including the raised handles. Heavy steel wire construction with two folding black-coated carry handles and the original embossed manufacturer plate inside. Likely circa 1950s and originally made for grocery, market or retail use. Good vintage condition with authentic age-related patina, surface oxidation, finish wear and wear to the handle coating; no major breaks noted. Wonderful rustic, industrial, primitive and country farmhouse character. A great hard to find original piece of mid-century commercial store equipment with a tapered wire design and folding handles. Today it works beautifully as a decorative storage basket or decor accent for books, magazines, records, towels, blankets, toys, collectibles or seasonal display. Perfect for a vintage kitchen, farmhouse, industrial style decor
