Antique Aberdeen Scotland Sterling Silver Enamel Souvenir Spoon Bon Accord Crest

28.00 $
Description
Antique sterling silver souvenir spoon featuring a vibrant blue and red enamel crest for Aberdeen, Scotland. The crest displays the city's coat of arms with the motto Bon Accord and two leopards flanking a shield. This piece showcases an elegant Art Nouveau style handle with flowing lines and a tapered stem. Hallmarks on the reverse indicate its British sterling silver origin, though they show significant wear. The spoon exhibits a heavy natural patina and tarnishing throughout, consistent with its age and history as a collectible travel memento. The Motto Bon Accord (French for Good agreement) was the secret watchword used by the townspeople and forces of King Robert the Bruce in 1308 during the Wars of Scottish Independence when they successfully retook and destroyed the English-held Aberdeen Castle.
